Morosil™
Morosil™ Background and Benefits
Morosil™ is a standardized powder extract made from the juice of Moro blood oranges (Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck), developed by the Italian company Bionap. Moro is the most deeply pigmented blood orange. Its flesh ranges from burgundy to almost black because it contains more anthocyanins than other red orange varieties.
Blood oranges have been grown around the Mediterranean since the early 19th century, and Sicily is still the heart of production. The region's big swings between warm days and cool nights, often more than 10°C, are thought to drive the intense color that sets Moro apart from oranges grown elsewhere. People traditionally valued blood oranges as a source of vitamin C and used them in folk remedies for digestive and seasonal complaints.
Morosil™ is standardized for a synergistic pool of polyphenols. These include cyanidin-3-glucoside (C3G), the flavanones hesperidin and narirutin, hydroxycinnamic acids such as ferulic acid, and naturally occurring vitamin C. Laboratory and animal research suggests these compounds may help regulate enzymes involved in fat storage and lipid metabolism, and may also support the body's antioxidant defenses.
Early human research is encouraging. In a 12-week placebo-controlled study, overweight adults taking 400 mg daily saw significant reductions in body weight, BMI, and waist and hip circumference. A 6-month trial found similar improvements in body composition, including visceral fat, when the extract was combined with diet and exercise. Liver safety markers stayed within normal range throughout.
Uses of Morosil™
Morosil™ is most often used in supplements designed to support healthy weight management and body composition. Clinical studies have used a daily dose of 400 mg, usually taken with breakfast, for 12 weeks to 6 months.
Research suggests it may influence fat accumulation, particularly around the waist, so it is often included in formulas that target metabolic health. Supporting a healthy waistline may also indirectly benefit cardiovascular function, because abdominal fat is closely linked to heart and metabolic wellbeing.
Its rich antioxidant profile also makes it a natural partner for other plant-based ingredients. We include Morosil™ in our Advanced Metabolic Support formula because it is a clinically studied, standardized extract with a consistent polyphenol profile. Its effects appear strongest when it is paired with a balanced diet and regular activity rather than relied on alone.
Signs You May Need Morosil™
You may want to consider Morosil™ if managing your weight feels difficult despite healthy eating and exercise. It may also suit you if you have noticed fat gradually building up around your waist and hips, or if you are focused on long-term metabolic and cardiovascular wellbeing. As with any supplement, talk to your healthcare professional before use, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking medication.
