Why do you need to use a moisturizer after a serum?

Most serums are water-based and do not contain oils or moisturizing ingredients that prevent moisture evaporating from the skin. This is why serums are best used in combination with a moisturizer, to provide hydration for the skin if this is needed. The molecular structure of a serum is smaller than that of a moisturizer, meaning that it can penetrate more deeply into the skin. Applying a moisturizer following this helps to provide additional nourishment to the skin and protects it from the elements throughout the course of the day.

We recommend using either our Nourishing Day Cream or Ultra-Light Sheer Day & Night Cream after applying the Luminous Facial Serum.

Is it okay for me to use the Luminous Facial Serum if I have eczema or very sensitive skin?

The liquid or gel-like consistency of the Luminous Facial Serum may be unsuitable for people with very sensitive or chronic skin conditions such as eczema or rosacea, which cause the skin barrier to become weakened. A serum may penetrate the skin too quickly and deeply and could cause irritation. We suggest testing the product on a very small area of skin before applying it to the face, such as the back of the wrist. If no adverse effects are noted, you may then apply to the face, monitoring any changes to the skin carefully.
